How To Cure An Itchy Scalp While Wearing A Sew-In

Do you find yourself with a plastic fork or the end of a rattail comb scratching away at the braids under your sew-in? Drop the fork, and walk away. You may be causing more harm to your already irritated scalp. Don’t scratch with anything that will irritate your scalp more than it already is. With every harsh scratch, your scalp can get scabs causing damage and hair loss. The irritation or itch occurs because you generally don’t wash your hair as much while wearing weave or extensions. It might seem as if your scalp itches more than usual a week or so after adding hair extensions. Here is a harmless way to soothe your irritated or itchy scalp quickly, without disrupting your braids. Using a clean bottle with a nozzle attachment apply liquid hair oil directly to your scalp or try Dark n Lovely's scalp soother. It is also good to apply oil to your braids after washing and drying your hair. If you have questions or would like me to blog about a hair issue you are currently having, please leave your questions in the contact form on hairnparis.com

Difference Between Hair Weave Textures and How to Maintain (Brazilian, Malaysian, & Peruvian)

I would first like to take the time to thank everyone for checking out the Hair-N-Paris Blog. Like always I will try to keep this blog as short as possible while providing what I believe to be the most important facts. I won't discuss all hair textures, I will only be covering the top selling textures for Hair-N-Paris. If you would like to skip the blog and purchase bundles instead feel free to do so! Click Shop Now! Otherwise, let's jump right into some basic virgin hair facts. All real human virgin hair has natural movement and should have little or no shedding and tangling. If you purchase from a company that claims to sell human virgin hair and it begins to shed and tangle excessively, then you have been duped. Hair-N-Paris sells 100% human virgin hair, that is the best quality hair at an affordable price and ships from the United States. Every texture of hair has slight processing to create the wave, silky straight or curl pattern. All bundles go through a process of washing and a natural steam processing to create the curl pattern. However, this process is NEVER chemical based, which is why the hair is still considered virgin hair. When the hair HAS NOT been chemically altered then we call it virgin hair.  With Virgin Hair, you will notice the colors are not even throughout the entire bulk or bundle. The color will be in its natural form and not dyed or altered in any form. You will find a few strands lighter or darker than the rest of the weft. This is typical for virgin hair due to hair lightening from sun exposure before the donor donated the hair.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BRAZILIAN, MALAYSIAN, AND PERUVIAN HAIR

Brazilian Hair - Brazilian hair is one of the most common types of human virgin hair purchased. It is known for its silky texture. This hair has a natural shine to its appearance and smooth, soft feel to touch. Hair-N-Paris has Brazilian Hair available in wavy, straight or curly textures. Our Brazilian hair holds a curl very well and tends to hold curls longer than most other hair textures. Brazilian hair is soft and smooth and blends well with permed or texturized hair. Hair-N-Paris Brazilian hair can last for over a year as long as it is well maintained after install. It doesn’t require special maintenance, but washing and conditioning at least once a week goes a long way. Applying leave in conditioner in-between washes will keep your hair fresh and smelling great. If you have any questions you would like for me to answer please comment below.

Malaysian Hair - Malaysian hair can sometimes appear very shiny which does not last long. After the first few washes, the shine decreases and takes on a more natural appearance. If you are a person that loves the shinier look and would like to keep that appearance, use a shampoo and conditioner that protects and holds shine. Deep wave or curly Malaysian hair will not loosen or drop its curl with time, curls will maintain their form during the entire install period if properly cared for. Malaysian hair takes a little longer to straighten so it is best to straighten after a wash using a blow dryer with a comb attached then flat iron on medium-low temperature. If you are not going for a straight style after a wash, add leave in conditioner and allow your hair to air dry. It is not required to add hair products to Malaysian hair in order to maintain the curls, but I am a huge fan of leave in conditioner and it will always keep your curls looking hydrated. Malaysian hair has a natural shine appearance so avoid heavy oils, this could cause the hair to be weighted down and cause the hair strains to slip from the wefts causing shedding. Malaysian hair could be a great fit for a person with natural or texturized hair. If you are a natural hair wearer, flat ironing your hair would allow natural blending with Malaysian hair. If you love volume and thickness, Malaysian hair is a great option. Hair-N-Paris Malaysian hair comes in its natural color and is 100% human virgin unprocessed hair. Malaysian hair requires fewer washes than Brazilian hair, but you will need to use a great leave-in conditioner at least 3 to 4 time per week if not washed weekly. Again, if you have any questions please comment below.

Peruvian Hair – Peruvian hair is a little more coarse and thicker in texture than Malaysian or Brazilian hair. Peruvian hair blends best with natural African-American hair textures, flat ironing any leave out will help with blending. Hair-N-Paris Peruvian hair is 100% human virgin hair that has not had any chemical processing. Peruvian hair is extremely manageable and best for first-time weave wearer who might not maintain their sew-in properly. Peruvian hair is very easily straightened and styled. Peruvian hair has a very natural look to its appearance and requires the least amount of hair products. To give a little shine to Peruvian hair apply a very small amount of lightweight coconut oil, no more than once per week after a wash and condition.

3 Common Sew-in Mistakes “EVERYONE” should know

Hey my beautiful weave wearers! It’s been a while since my last blog, so l wanted to make sure I blogged about something that a lot of people are asking about. What are common sew-in mistakes?? I know that if your reading this blog, you want to gain information. So… I will keep this short and sweat as always. Remember if you have any questions or would like to me blog about a certain topic please comment below or visit hairnparis.com for other blogs topics. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and I hope this information is helpful.

First common mistake is that braid must be tight to last longer. Normally when most people have a sew-in done, the nature hair is braided. It is VERY important to notify the hair braider or your stylist of your braids being too tight. If your braids are uncomfortably tight before any weave has been installed / sown in, then the pain after installation is going to be much worse. Once the installation of the hair weave begins and the thread used during the installation of the sew-in is pulled through/underneath the braids, chances are there will be more tightening and much more pain. I know that most people fear rocking the boat and feel that the tighter the hair is the longer it will last. SO NOT TRUE!!!!! Yes, everyone wants their sew-in to be flawless, but not at the risk of your edges. This is one of the main reason that a lot of people loss the edges of the hair and have painful scabs on the scalp which causes the hair to break off. So to avoid any unwanted issues, just ensure your braids are comfortable before the installation process begins.

Second common mistake is the use of glue on a frontal or closure during a sew-in. Using glue on a frontal is a common mistake made by a lot of hair stylist. If you purchased a closure, full frontal, or even a 360 frontal to be installed during a sew-in, ensure that your hair stylist knows how to install it correctly. When you schedule your appointment with your stylist be clear of what type of hair you have purchased and what you want done. Ask questions about the installation. Let your stylist know that you have a closure / frontal. Ask your stylist if they use glue to install the frontal. If the answer is, yes. You have two options. Find another hair stylist that can install a frontal without glue or take your chances.  The reason you do not add glue to a frontal is the glue is always going to have to be reapplied. The glue down method last for about a week and looks horrible once the frontal is no longer glued down. The correct way to apply a frontal or closure is to sew it down, it last longer and looks nature. We all want to get our money’s worth and the sew down method will last about two months or longer depending on how fast your hair grows.

Third common mistake made is using grease on your weave. If you’re that lady that loves Blue Magic, please hear me out. Weave is not supposed to be weighted down or greasy. I would even say stop using grease on your nature hair. If you are a person that deals with dry hair, then please read my blog about the L.O.C moisturizing method. I will always say NEVER apply grease to your weave, but if you absolutely must go for a light weight natural oil or light weight hair sheen. Remember you only need a very small amount. If you purchased low grade hair bundles and dealing with a lot of tangling and matting, then applying a small about of oil or sheen will help. For more information about the hair grading system see my blog.

DIY Extension Dying At Home

For those of you who like DIY hair dying, this blog is just for you.  If I can learn to do it myself, then I'm all in. Below are six very easy steps to dying your hair weave at home.

Materials Needed: Hair Extensions / Tracks Hair Dye or color, a brush, color bowl, plastic wrap, gloves, large towel, aluminium foil, and a wide tooth comb.

Step One - First, be sure to disentangle the extensions by combing through them with your wide tooth comb. Make sure that all product are completely washed out of the extensions before applying the color. Dry the extensions after disentangling and washing them by placing them on a towel.

Step Two -  Next, prepare the hair color mixture. Before proceeding with this step, ensure that your hands are well protected by wearing the rubber gloves. Follow the instructions that came with the hair color.

Step Three – Once you have followed the preparation instructions for mixing the hair color. Use the dye to coat your hair extensions. Comb through the extensions to ensure that the hair color is evenly distributed and coats all the areas you want dyed. Cover the hair extensions with aluminum foil once you finish applying the dye. Allow the color to set into the hair as noted on the color box.

Step Four – You will now be rinsing excess hair color from the extensions. For faster and complete removal of color, use warm water when rinsing the extensions. Once all the dye has been removed, shampoo the and apply a conditioner. You may want to comb through the extension gently while the conditioner is in the hair to straighten the hair. Allow the conditioner to rest for up to 10 to 15 minutes.

Step Five – Now that your extensions are colored. Rinse the conditioner out of the extensions using cold water. The cool water method will leave your hair shinny as well as seal in the color.

Step Six - Finally, air dry the extension, which will preserve moisture. If you would like you can also blow dry the extensions to speed up the drying process.
