DIY Leave-In-Conditioner To Help Maintain Your Sew-in’s Freshness

DIY Leave-In-Conditioner To Help Maintain Your Sew-in’s Freshness

The most important product that I use on my hair, as well as my sew-in, is leave-in conditioner.  There are so many reasons for using leave-in conditioners that benefits the health of your hair. Leave-in conditioner, it's great for detangling hair and it continues to condition the hair after applying to your hair. Leave-in conditioner is great for refreshing your sew-in between washes and it's an awesome form of moisture, which keeps the hair smooth and smelling nice. It also contains protein to strengthen the hair which is extremely important for hair growth. I can go on FOREVER listing why leave-in conditioner should be your BFF. BUT…. I would rather teach you how to make it so you save a few bucks. The best leave-in conditioner is DIY, do it yourself. Since buying conditioner is something I do on a regular basis to go along with my shampoo. Why not just make the leave-in conditioner and save money?  I have three daughters and I go through leave-in conditioner like crazy because it is also the number one product that I apply to my girl's hair as well as my own. My husband even uses the leave-in conditioner on his beard, which leaves it smelling amazing. So since I go through a bottle of leave-in conditioner five times faster than the next person, I decided to learn how to make my own leave-in conditioner. Plus I can control the ingredients that I add to make my leave-in conditioner which makes it more natural and safer for my family. It is always best to know exactly what is in the products you are using, so that is another reason I love this method.

First, take some time to think about, what your hair needs and add the ingredient that helps with that issue to your leave in conditioner. Try not to go overboard with the ingredients that you add, just to keep things simple starting out. Do some research to become aware of what mineral help with different side effects before you begin your mixture. Once you get a feel for making the product and your comfortable you can start going more in-depth with what you add. To give an example, if you deal with dry hair or itchy scalp add a little liquid based oil to your mixture of ingredients, you could even add lemon juice that will help lighten the hair. However, for this blog, we will only use basic ingredients to make our DIY leave-in conditioner.

Basic Materials You Will Need For Making DIY Leave-In Conditioner

  • 6oz Spray Bottle
  • Distilled Bottled Water
  • Your Favorit Conditioner
  • Coconut oil (liquid or melted)

Using your spray bottle mix about 2 to 3 tablespoons of your favorite conditioner. Next, add about 3 ounces of distilled water, this step is because you want to dilute the conditioner so that you no longer need to rise your hair. This method is what makes your regular rinse out conditioner a leave-in conditioner.

Now,  add about 1 ounce of coconut oil, which helps with faster hair growth and dryness. I use coconut oil because it is a natural way to help your hair grow thicker, longer, and faster.  The essential fatty acids and vitamins naturally found in coconut oil nourish the scalp and help to remove build-up. I also add Vitamin E because it is an antioxidant that helps repair and build tissue. This step is completely optional so I didn't include Vitamin E as part of the materials needed, which is something that is added to my leave-in conditioner mixture. Applying vitamin E will help repair damage and encourage hair growth, as well as apply shine. Make sure to shake the ingredients well so they mix together.

Now that you have your conditioner all mix and ready, apply to your natural hair as well as your sew-in bundles. Remember if your detangling your hair, spray on the leave-in conditioner and begin to detangle starting at the end of your hair. If you have questions please comment below. Will Chlorine Damage My Hair Extensions? How to Care For My Weave After Swimming?

Will Chlorine Damage My Hair Extensions? How to Care For My Weave After Swimming?

Summer is in full effect and this is the perfect blog for information on swimming with weave and how to care for your extensions after being exposed to chlorine. The first thing everyone should know is you don’t have to be afraid to get your sew-in wet, so more resting on the sidelines. After reading this blog you can jump head first into the pool with no fear of damaging your weave. You can enjoy wearing extensions in the summer with a little additional maintenance, but the summer fun is well worth the additional time and effort.

I will only be providing information that I have experienced first hand and have knowledge of which ensures the best hair care procedures for Hair-N-Paris hair weave products. I will cover what effects does chlorine has on weaves, and how to care for your weave after swimming or chlorine exposure.

I am often asked what effects does chlorine have on hair weave? It is possible for chlorine to damage hair extensions, but this would only happen if the chlorine levels in the water are extremely high. Normally, if the pool has just been treated and you can smell a harsh or strong chlorine smell, I would wait a couple of hours before jumping into the pool. If you have just recently colored your extensions I would suggest waiting for one to two full week before swimming in chlorine. Bleaching your hair bundles and swimming in chlorine-based water could alter the color of your extensions. Hair extensions and chlorine can co-exist if done in moderation and aftercare steps are followed soon after swimming. Caring for hair extension after being exposed to chlorine is very important because chlorine drains the hydration from hair so following the proper hair care step is necessary.

Knowing how to care for your weave after swimming in chlorine is important to know before diving into the pool. The aftercare process for your weave when swimming in chlorine is required to avoid damaging your extensions. Never allow chlorine to remain in your extensions or natural hair overnight. Leaving chlorine in your hair for a long period of time could cause irreparable dryness and color alteration. You should always raise the chlorine out of your hair right after swimming. Next, wash your extensions and natural hair under you install with shampoo. If you are washing chlorine from your extensions avoid using a shampoo that dehydrates the hair since chlorine drains the natural oils from your weave. After washing your hair with shampoo apply conditioner and allow it to rest for ten to fifteen minutes then raise with cool water. Once you have washed your weave and scalp thoroughly, towel dry your extensions. Apply a leave-in conditioner to your extensions while the hair is still damp. Remove any tangles with a large tooth comb starting from the bottom of the extension working your way to the track of the extension. Allow your hair weave to air dry and ensure your braids under the install is completely dry as well. After the extensions have air dyed apply a small amount of lightweight oil such as natural coconut oil to your extensions and scalp. Now you are able to style your hair as desired.

How Many Hair Bundles Do I Need To Buy?

Posted by Paris Evans

For ANYONE who has ever purchased hair bundles before, you always have that nagging question on your brain. "How many bundles do I need to buy"? Well, worry no more because in this blog I will give you a quick and easy breakdown of how many bundles to purchase from Hair-N-Paris to ensure you slay your sew-in. First, there are four basic questions you need to answer before buying your Hair-N-Paris Premium Bundles. How full do you want your hair? Are you using a closure (If yes, what type)? What length of Premium bundles are you buying from Hair-N-Paris? What texture of Premium hair bundles are you using?

Are you looking for the beautiful super full Beyonce style or do you want to tone it down a bit? If you want to achieve a thicker fuller look you need to ensure to purchase a net cap so that you are able to fit all your bundles into your sew-in. If you like the thinner natural look, you will be able to get away with not using a net cap. However, I suggest everyone use a net cap for a little extra protection. If you plan on using a closure or frontal that would also decrease the number of bundles you would need. See the Hair-N-Paris bundle graph to assist with how many bundles to purchase. Also, note that this graph is just general information for all Hair-N-Paris hair textures (straight, body wave, loose wave, deep wave, and kinky). It is possible that you will have hair left over, which could be used for your next sew-in.

Something to always remember is that all bundles weigh the same (100 grams or 3.5oz). Shorter bundles (10 to 16 inches) will be thicker than longer length bundles (18 inches and up). When purchasing longer length bundles you will get less hair since bundles are measured by weight, and will require an additional bundle depending on how full you would like your hair. The Hair-N-Paris bundle graph shown in this blog is based off purchasing 18 to 30-inch bundles. If you are considering ordering 10 to 16 inches you might use a half bundle less than listed on the graph. I hope this blog helps and if you have any questions please comment or send emails to sales@hairnparis.com
